Oral and Video Histories Project

Preserving Voices: Our Ongoing Oral Histories Project

For the past year, our Oral Histories Project has been dedicated to collecting, recording, and preserving personal stories that might otherwise be lost to time. Thanks to the support of Midway City Council and grant funding from Utah Humanities in conjunction with the Utah Historical Society, we have been able to document 10 incredible oral histories—each capturing unique experiences, memories, and insights that contribute to our shared history.

Capturing Stories in Video and Print

This project aims to ensure that important stories are preserved both in video and written form, making them accessible for generations to come. By combining the spoken word with written transcripts, we are creating a rich historical resource that can be used for research, education, and community reflection.

Each oral history we’ve collected so far tells a compelling story, whether it’s about personal triumphs, cultural traditions, historic events, or everyday life. Through in-depth interviews, we have recorded firsthand accounts that offer invaluable perspectives on both the past and the present.

Funded by Grant Support

This work has been made possible through generous grant funding from Utah Humanities in conjunction with the Utah Historic Society, which has allowed us to invest in transcription services, and the time required to conduct and edit each interview. We also want to thank Steve Heiner, who has volunteered his time and incredible video talent to this project.

Looking Ahead

As we move forward, we are excited to expand our collection and continue preserving voices that matter. If you or someone you know has a story to share, we would love to hear from you! Whether it’s a family history, a personal journey, or an untold chapter of local history, your voice is important.

Stay tuned for updates as we continue this meaningful work. Thank you to everyone who has supported and participated in the Oral Histories Project—together, we are keeping history alive.
